An Annual Subscription to the Notts Guild costs just £27.00, and includes membership of the National Guild Association, who provide our public liability insurance cover as well as having links to all the other Guilds around the country.  There is a £5.00 attendance fee per meeting, which can be paid per meeting or in advance for the whole year (note that if you pay in advance, refunds for non-attended meetings will only be given in exceptional circumstances).  We accept cash, cheques and card payments.

As a member of the Notts Guild, you will be able to:

  • Borrow material from the Guild library – the library has a good selection of books on weaving, spinning and dyeing, as well as on knitting and other related crafts
  • Borrow equipment from the Guild – we have a range of equipment, including a spinning wheel, rigid-heddle loom, drum-carder, picker and hackle, which members can borrow for a small deposit
  • Meet other like-minded people, and learn from the wealth of knowledge and experience that our members possess

We aim to provide at least 2 outside speakers each year to join us at the meetings to talk on the core or affiliated skills and any suggestions for good outside speakers are gladly welcomed.  We also ensure that we dedicate a meeting to each of the core skills where our more experienced members will pass on their knowledge to the rest of us.  See the Calendar page for this year’s events.

If you’re interested in finding out more, you’re very welcome to attend as a visitor. Your first meeting will be free and your second visit will just cost you the £5.00 daily meeting fee. If you come back for a third meeting, we’ll assume that you really like us and will invite you to sign up as a full member. So why not come along to one of our meetings and try us out!

Children and babies policy:

Parents are welcome to bring babies who are being breast or bottle fed until the age of 12 months. A quiet space is available if required.  Babies under the age of 12 months who start to crawl or walk must be placed in a play pen; the parent is responsible for supplying the play pen.

Due to the nature of the equipment we use, children between the ages of 12 months and 12 years are not permitted.  The minimum age for membership is 12 years. Young people aged 12 and over may join as members in their own right but must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
